A dedication ceremony was held this morning for the Honolulu Fire Department's new McCully-Moiliili Station.

The facility — at 2424 Date Street — was built on the site of the old McCully Station, which was built in 1948 and demolished in 2007.

Designed by Urban Works, the new station incorporates solar water heating and central air conditioning and has an equipment decontamination room, among other features.

The station will house an engine and a ladder company, each assigned a crew of five firefighters. The engine is equipped with HFD's new Compressed Air Foam System, which the fire department says offers superior fire suppressing capability.
