Humorist Garrison Keillor hosted his first broadcast of "A Prairie Home Companion" since suffering a minor stroke nearly three weeks ago.

Keillor launched a new season of his popular public radio show last night with a live broadcast from Fitzgerald Theater in downtown St. Paul, Minn.

The 67-year-old Keillor suffered a mild stroke on Labor Day and spent four nights at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He soon returned to work and said he had no plans to postpone the upcoming season of "Prairie Home."

The season premiere was followed by an annual meatloaf supper and free street dance featuring Keillor with singer Andra Suchy, Salsa del Soul, the Sam Bush Band and the Guy's All-Star Shoe Band.

STARS PUT ON BENEFIT FOR AGASSI SCHOOL

Comedian Dane Cook, rock band Daughtry and musicians Tim McGraw and Brian McKnight were headlining a benefit concert last night at the Wynn Las Vegas hotel-casino to provide funding for the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy.

Agassi, who is hosting the concert, said the school is an example of what education could be in Nevada and elsewhere if schools get proper funding and full support from parents.

That includes longer school days, mandated parent participation and volunteering, and teaching flexibility, Agassi said.

The K-12 school with about 600 students graduated its first seniors this year, and all of them moved on to higher education.

The school for low-income students opened in 2001 with funding from the Andre Agassi Foundation, which has raised $75 million through the concerts since 1994.

SINGER GETS LOVE FROM FIRST LADY

Hey, Michelle Obama — what's on your iPod?

Sara Bareilles, among other things.

If the singer-songwriter didn't know already, she — and plenty of other people — now knows that the first lady is one of her biggest fans.

"I love her," Obama gushed Friday, giving a shout-out to Bareilles for the performance she was giving at a concert the first lady organized for students at the Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts School.

"She is on my iPod. She has gotten me through many a day," Obama said, naming two of Bareilles' songs, "Gravity" and "Love Song." Bareilles performed the latter during the show.

CHINESE MOVIE TOPS AT SPANISH FILM FEST

Chinese director Lu Chuan's film "City of Life and Death" has won the top prize at Spain's San Sebastian Film Festival.

The movie, a depiction of a traumatic moment in China's history known as the Nanking Massacre, or the Rape of Nanking, deals with a six-week period in 1937-38 following the Japanese capture of the Chinese city of Nanking.

The best actress award went to Lola Duenas for her performance in the Spanish film "Yo Tambien," while the best actor prize went to Pablo Pineda for the same film.
