Park Yong-ha in concert here Oct. 17
K-Drama
South Korean megastar Park Yong-ha is returning to Hawai'i for a concert Oct. 17 at the Hawai'i Convention Center.
Park, who is an award-winning actor on TV and in film, as well as a singer, played the Waikiki Shell three years ago to a large crowd of fans from both Hawai'i and Japan.
Next month's Hawai'i concert is his only U.S. concert scheduled this year. The concert is presented by Up-Front Agency and YONA Entertainment, in partnership with KBFD TV.
Park Yong-ha has been in many successful TV series but is most notable for his role in South Korea's hit show "Winter Sonata," alongside Bae Yong-jun and Choi Ji-woo.
This series launched Park in other Asian markets — especially Japan, where he has spent years working on his singing career.
He has many albums and singles released in Japan (singing in Japanese) that have won him awards for best Asian artist and song of the year.
While other hallyu stars ventured into the Hollywood film industry, Park has gained a lot of success in the music industry in Japan.
His most recent TV series, "Slingshot," aired on KBS (Oceanic cable channel 80), and before that he was in "On Air" as Lee Kyung-min, a series that ran here on KBFD.
He also had time to do a Korean film, "The Scam," but unfortunately it will not be shown at the Hawaii International Film Festival this year.
KBFD TV will give away a limited number of Park Yong-ha concert tickets. Simply mail in a postcard with your name, address and phone number for your chance to win a pair of tickets in a random drawing.
You must be 18 or older to enter the giveaway.
