BY THE LIGHT OF THE MOON

The annual Moon Festival Celebration, marking a traditional Chinese holiday that celebrates the end of the summer harvest season, will this year pay homage to the 50th anniversary of the induction of Hawai'i into the United States.

This year's festival — themed "Echo Ancient Chinese Tradition with Aloha Spirit" — is two packed hours of singing, dancing, acrobatics and traditional chanting to the moon goddess. A Chinese choir from Vancouver, as well as a local Chinese choir, will provide the vocals. And the dancing is courtesy of the China Dance Delegation and the Tau Dance Theater.

The event is jointly sponsored by the Hawaii Chinese Culture Center and the Chinese Artists Association.

GUILTY OR INNOCENT?

The Actors' Group tackles Ayn Rand's "Night of January 16th," opening tonight at 7:30 at the TAG theater (1116 Smith St., 722-6941, $20) and running through Oct. 18. The twist: The audience is the jury in this court drama.

WHEN DOGS FLY

THIS LITTLE PIGG STOLE OUR HEARTS

Even if you don't know the name Landon Pigg, you know his voice from "Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop," which is the swoony soundtrack to an AT&T commercial. "I think that possibly, maybe I've fallen for you ..." The feeling's mutual. Pigg's debut record, "The Boy Who Never," drops Tuesday.
