Kalihi murder suspect charged in separate case
A man charged with sexually assaulting and murdering 18-year-old Iris Rodrigues-Kaikana in Kalihi on Aug. 24 was arrested and charged Monday with assault in connection with an unrelated beating case in Makiki.
Corbit K. Ahn, 29, was charged with one count of first-degree assault. He was arrested at 8:45 a.m. Monday at O'ahu Community Correctional Center, where he is awaiting trial on the murder charge.
Police yesterday said the arrest was made in response to a complaint filed by a 49-year-old man who said Ahn and another man beat him in the Makiki area on July 23.
The second suspect in the Makiki beating case, a 25-year-old man, was arrested Sept. 19, police said.
Ahn is accused of murdering Rodrigues-Kaikana, whose nude body was found in an alley adjacent to the Kamehameha Homes public housing project. He remains at OCCC in lieu of $2 million bail.
