‘One Night’ a short film exploring homeless, one this month’s special edition of Showdown in Chinatown.
The seven-minute short film was written and directed by Misa Tupou, his first entry into the competition. Filmmakers from cities across the country were asked to make films this month under the theme “How do you see Chinatown?”
The judging panel described ‘One Night’ as “compelling throughout” and overall “a very good film, first rate.” Judges also said the film “gave great sense of Chinatown, put human face on homelessness.”
Tupou’s film will now be included as part of the Chinatown Film Project YouTube channel. Locally, the winning film also becomes part of the Hawai’i International Film Festival at an outdoor screening event on Oct. 23 in Chinatown.
