‘Soul Saviour’-inspired films debut

Ten short films by Hawai'i filmmakers, all of them inspired by the locally made series "Soul Saviour," will be screened at the Soul Saviour Film Festival.
The festival of short films, music videos and experimental videos is the brainchild of filmmaker Jeff Katts, whose "Soul Saviour" series has been running online for five years.
"Soul Saviour" follows the adventures of ordinary human beings chosen by God to save human souls. The humans play a mental game against a demon for the sake of saving another person's soul. If the human succeeds, the soul is saved. If the human fails, the soul goes to Satan. Each game is different. Each soul to be saved is different. And the chosen humans are called Soul Saviours.
Films to be screened:
"Malaga," directed by Robert and Daniel Poleki (15 minutes). Set in long-ago Samoa, this is the story of a conflict between two brothers. When they are sent deep into the forest to prove themselves, one is put to a test that will ultimately save the other.
"Seed Acension," directed by Jos Raquel (15 minutes). A film short explaining the rules Soul Saviours must follow.
"Reach Out," directed by Jeff Katts (5 minutes). A short film inspired by domestic violence victim Janel Tupuola, who was murdered in Kailua in 2008.
"Misguided," directed by Tony Silva (10 minutes). A Soul Saviour must deal with two angels who are trying to help.
"Defective Angel"; directed by Sean Terry (15 minutes). The story of a dead Soul Saviour sent to a celestial prison for insubordination.
"Empty Arms," directed by Rene Garcia (16 minutes). A Soul Saviour has to decide if she has the strength to save a soul.
"Nate Brown," directed by Benjamin Keating (10 minutes). An honest man finds himself on a life-altering path and his only hope of salvation depends on the strength of his own free will and faith.
"Stray," music video; directed by Jeff Katts (3 minutes). An original song sung a cappella by Carmen Ah Sing.
"Battle of the Minions," directed by Aaron Yamasato (25 minutes). The story of three angels battling three demons in hand-to-hand combat for the soul of a human.
"I'm Not Alone" music video; directed by Jeff Katts (6 minutes). An original song written and sung by Sherry Eatmon.
