Free admission to several museums on Saturday
At least nine Oçahu museums will be participating in the Smithsonian magazine’s Fifth Annual Museum Day Saturday, which means free entry for all to emulate the Washington, D.C.-based Institution’s free admission policy.
Many participating museums already offer free admission, but just in case you’re not sure which is which, the participating museums include:
• Hawaii State Art Museum
• Hawaii Theatre Center
• Honolulu Academy of Arts
• Mission Houses Museum
• Pacific Aviation Museum
• Queen Emma Summer Palace
• The Contemporary Museum
• Tropic Lighting Museum, Schofield Barracks
• University of Hawaiçi Art Gallery
The museum day is a national event, and 1,200 museums in all 50 states have already registered, making it the biggest museum day in history.
To find the most current museum day list (including neighbor island participants), visit www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday and search for Hawaiçi to get the list of neighbor island participants, too. Take advantage of the special day by printing out an admission card good for two people at http://microsite.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/admission.html.
