MINNEAPOLIS — If anyone in Minnesota benefits from Ricky Rubio’s decision to stay in Spain for at least another two years, it has to be Jonny Flynn.
The Timberwolves selected Flynn right behind Rubio in the June draft. Both play point guard, so they figured to share minutes this season for the rebuilding team.
But Flynn says he is disappointed that Rubio decided to stay overseas and not join the Timberwolves this season. He says he looked forward to learning from Rubio and playing with a player considered to be perhaps the best pure passer in the draft this season.
Now Flynn will likely get bigger minutes in his rookie season while sharing some of the load with free agent signee Ramon Sessions.
