'West Side Story' opens Friday

Head over to the Windward side to catch Palikü Theatre’s “West Side Story,” which begins a monthlong run Friday.
The modern-day musical version of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” — with music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim — is directed by Pookela award-winning director Ron Bright and choreographed by Marcelo Pacleb, artistic director of 24/VII Danceforce. The show about lovers caught between rival street gangs centers on Tony (Kyle McCraw) and his love interest Maria (Kim Anderson).
