Kauai firefighters were mopping up after containing a brush fire on the island's south shore that charred 100 to 200 acres on Grove Farm property near Mahaulepu Beach.

The fire was contained by 5:30 p.m., less than seven hours after it began.
No one was injured and no structures were threatened, Kauai officials said.
Firefighters from six of the seven Kauai fire stations had responded to the fire. Private agencies also responded.
The Pacific Missile Range Facility also provided helicopter support to make water drops on the brush fire.
