WAHIAWA—Calm and cool, Leilehua overcame a 20-0 halftime deficit to rally past Campbell, 29-26, last night in O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red West football at Hugh Yoshida Stadium.

Running back Carlos Marshall scored on a 2-yard run with three minutes, 24 seconds left, then caught a 2-point conversion pass from Andrew Manley to complete the comeback for the Mules (3-2 overall, 2-1 West).

The game-winning score was set up by a blocked punt by Penitito Melei with 5:02 left that gave the Mules possession at the Sabers' 38. The Mules converted a fourth-and-2 from the Sabers' 18 to keep the drive alive.

But a personal foul penalty on the ensuing kickoff after a 29-yard return by Christian Carlos gave Campbell the ball at the Leilehua 48 with 3:14 left. The Sabers drove to the Mules' 15 before Dillon Pauu's second interception of the night with 41 seconds left preserved Leilehua's lead. The Mules took two knees to end the game.

"We teach heart and playing for the guy next to you," Leilehua coach Nolan Tokuda said. "In the locker room (at halftime), down 20-0, most teams would just fold. Our coaches were positive. They said, 'You know you can play better than that. Let's not look at the scoreboard and worry about the guy next to you. We're going to treat it as 0-0.' "

After the Mules pulled to 20-14 in the third quarter, the Sabers scored early in the fourth quarter to increase their lead to 26-14. But Leilehua remained methodical on their next series. The Sabers (2-4, 1-3) were playing for the pass, so the Mules kept the ball on the ground with Marshall, who had 68 yards on 13 carries. The Mules gambled on fourth-and-2 from their 33, when Manley scrambled out of trouble for 2 yards and a first down to keep the drive alive.

Marshall ran the ball five consecutive downs before Manley completed a 16-yard pass to Blaine Furtado. After an 8-yard gain by Austin Schmidt, Marshall gained 4 to the Sabers' 1, where Manley sneaked in to pull Leilehua to 26-21 with 6:57 left.

"We're finally coming together," Manley said. "This is what we're going to do the rest of the year."

Manley completed 22 of 36 passes for 289 yards and one TD. He scored two on runs, including a 9-yarder in which he dived between tacklers. Kamana Akagi had eight catches for 138 yards.

Sabers quarterback Maika Ulufale scored on a pair of sneaks in the first quarter, and Sy Delizon scored from 7 yards out with 52 seconds left in the half as Campbell took a 20-0 lead.
