'EWA BEACH — Wait till they're fully healthy.

The No. 3 Mililani Trojans, sans several starters due to injuries including all-purpose player Taz Stevenson, showed their depth and athleticism in a 35-14 romp in spoiling Campbell's homecoming last night in O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red West football at the Sabers' field.

Quarterback Trent McKinney ran for three touchdowns and passed for two to 6-foot-5 receiver Hassan Richardson to lead the Trojans (5-0 overall, 3-0 West) over the Sabers (2-3, 1-2).

"We were missing a couple guys and we had some guys who had to come in and step it up," McKinney said. "They did."

Richardson was the preferred target last night for McKinney. A 31-yard completion in the first quarter set up the Trojans' first score, the first of McKinney's 1-yard TD sneaks. But both showed their athleticism on the two TD passes, both in the red zone. Each time McKinney put up an alley-oop that only Richardson could reach over the Campbell defender in the end zone, the first a 14-yarder, the second from 4 yards.

"We practice that," McKinney said of those particular plays.

Richardson led with seven receptions for 107 yards, while McKinney complete 18 of 26 for 217 yards, but was intercepted once by Michael Sellers, who made an over-the-shoulder catch in the end zone and ran the ball out 12 yards.

The Sabers' first score came from their most dangerous threat. Samson Anguay returned a kickoff 93 yards after faking a reverse handoff to pull Campbell to 14-7 with 4:14 left in the first half.

But the Trojans responded with a scoring drive that ended with Richardson's leaping 4-yard TD catch with 34 seconds left in the half that made it 21-7.

Anguay scored on a 56-yard run with 4:58 left in the fourth quarter to make it 35-14. But the Trojans' defense pretty much contained the Sabers, who have scored one offensive TD in their last two games. Anguay finished with five carries for 88 yards.

Trojans coach Darnell Arceneaux was pleased with the way his team responded to the injuries.

"It's a team sport, so we get the next guy ready to go," Arceneaux said. "The beautiful part about team sports is that they know they can play without Taz. All of our starting receivers were gone. Our left tackle. It's a physical sport. You lose guys, but every team goes through it. Our number twos, threes, fours and fives have to step up.

"Hassan stepped up. That's all you ask for. That's what we talk about everyday. When you have the opportunities, when you can seize the moment, that's what high school sports is all about."
