Kahala Assaggio to celebrate grand opening with AUW donations

Advertiser Staff

Assaggio Bistro Kahala will be celebrating its grand opening next week by giving back to the community.

Husband and wife Thomas and Siri Ky first opened Assaggio in Kailua, and has since opened in Hawaii Kai, Ala Moana, Mililani and Kapolei.

“We were very fortunate when we first came to the United States where people helped to give us our first start,” said Thomas Ky, principal owner of the Assaggio chain. “We wanted to give back to the people of Hawaii in some small way. At the suggestion by my banker, Diane Murakami, senior vice president at Bank of Hawaii, we decided to partner with Aloha United Way because it supports many local nonprofit agencies as we wanted to give to those who need help during these tough economic times.”

The theme of the grand opening event is called “Good Living, Good Giving” because on Monday and Tuesday, all proceeds will be donated to Aloha United Way when people dine at the new Assaggio Bistro Kahala location, which is across from Kahala Mall next to ‘Umeke Market.

“We are honored that Assaggio Bistro has chosen to support Aloha United Way,” said Susan Au Doyle, president and chief professional officer of Aloha United Way. “Their investment in our community enables us to not only create lasting change but to inspire hope for a better tomorrow.”

Assaggio Bistro Kahala is open daily for lunch and dinner. For hours of operation, visit www.assaggiohi.com or call 734-1011. Reservations are recommended.
