MLB: Giants’ Lincecum improving after back spasms

Associated Press

SAN FRANCISCO — Giants’ starter Tim Lincecum is showing improvement from back spasms that forced him to miss his start Tuesday night against the San Diego Padres.
The Giants said on Wednesday that they will reevaluate his condition following Thursday’s off day and make a decision regarding his next start by Friday.

The right-hander said he will leave the decision up to the trainers and Giants’ management.
Entering Wednesday’s games, Lincecum (13-5) ranked second in the NL in ERA (2.34) behind St. Louis’ Chris Carpenter. He was one of five NL pitchers with two shutouts and one of two with four complete games. He led the league with 233 strikeouts and 200 1-3 innings pitched.
