Tropical storm maintaining intensity as it churns west
Tropical storm Linda showed no change in intensity yesterday as it moved west, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Linda had maximum sustained winds of 60 mph with some higher gusts and was moving west at 7 mph. Forecasters predict the storm could turn toward the west-northwest and then the northwest with a decrease in forward speed.
The storm, forecasters said, could become a hurricane within a day or two.
At 5 p.m. Hawai'i time, Linda was about 1,280 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California.
