Police charge man in death of Kalihi teen, say DNA links suspect to killing
Police charged a 29-year-old Honolulu man today with second degree murder in connection with the death of Iris Rodrigues-Kaikana, the Kalihi teen whose nude body was found nearly two weeks ago.
Bail was set at $ 2 million for Corbit Ahn, of Matlock Avenue. He will make an initial appearance in court on Tuesday morning.
The charges come two weeks after the nude body of 18-year-old Rodrigues-Kaikana was found in a Kalihi alleyway on Aug. 24 by a woman picking flowers in her yard.
Corbit, a mixed martial arts expert, allegedly was in the home where Rodrigues-Kaikana went to after finishing up work at the Fort Street Mall McDonald's.
Police used DNA taken from Rodrigues-Kaikana's body to identify the suspect. The DNA matched a profile entered into the national DNA Index System and the Hawaiçi Criminal Justice Information System.
