Maui Hawaiian Cement plant damaged in early morning fire
An early morning fire caused an estimated $3 million in damages to a Hawaiian Cement plant building in Puunene, Maui today, Maui firefighters said.
The cause of the fire at the building at 10400 Mokulele Highway is still under investigation. Firefighters arrived at the fire at 4:12 a.m. today and extinguished the fire by 7 a.m. with six units and a fire prevention bureau officer, officials said.
The fire burned two 8 by 20 foot containers and a structure that housed a conveyor belt and electrical equipment, firefighters said.
Hawaiian Cement put the damage estimate at $3 million.
