Kapolei's Mattos, HBA's Goto win state bowling titles

Kapolei’s Raelena Mattos won the girls title and Hawaii Baptist’s Jaron Goto took the boys title today in the Hawaii High School Athletic Association state bowling championships at Schofield Bowling Center.
Mattos, the leader after six games, held off Kalaheo’s Tammi Sakaguchi by a 1,620 to 1,612 pinfall.
She helped Kapolei win the title, beating out defending champion Kalani, 7,427 to 7,163. Also on Kapolei's winning team were Christalynn Bonifacio, Valerie Ibarra, Jana Okamura and Amber Aiu.
Goto, who surpassed 200 five times among his nine games, won with a 1,740 total. Mililani’s Wayne Miyashiro was second wih 1,669.
Goto helped HBA win the team title with a 7,798 total. Also on HBA winning team were Lewis Wang, Tyler Hodson, Derek Leong and Brock Wong. Defending champion Pearl City was second at 7,616.
