DUI suspect alleged to have assaulted police officer
A 20-year-old Wahiawa woman allegedly punched and scratched a police officer at the Kapolei Police Station after her earlier arrest Saturday night, police said.
Police said the woman was arrested at 590 Farrington Highway Saturday night on suspicion of drunken driving.
At about 11 p.m., after she had been taken to the Kapolei station, the woman allegedly left the police patrol car and tried to escape. When an officer intervened, she punched him and scratched his face, police said.
She was being held pending investigation on suspicion of drunken driving, escape and assaulting a law enforcement officer.
The officer was treated and released at Hawaii Medical Center West. The woman was not injured.
