Honolulu's Tadd Fujikawa fired a 4-under-par 68 yesterday and is tied for fourth after the opening round of his PGA Tour Qualifying First Stage.

Fujikawa, 18, is playing at St. Johns Golf & Country Club in St. Augustine, Fla. It is one of 13 First Stage events.

Billy Horschel of Cleveland leads after a 66. The first two stages of qualifying are 72 holes. The final qualifier, in December, is 108.

Fujikawa had six birdies, including three of the par-5s, and two bogeys in his round.

The Moanalua High graduate has made three cuts in four tour starts this year.

In Port St. Lucie, Fla. at PGA Golf Club's Wanamaker Course, former University of Hawai'i standout Pierre-Henri Soero has a share of 14th after opening with a 69. He had five birdies and two bogeys.

Hugo Leon, of Florida, opened with a 62. Two share second at 66.

Former Hawai'i State Open champ Chad Saladin is tied for 35th after shooting a 74 at The Auburn University Club in Alabama. At Dayton Valley Country Club in Dayton, Nev., former Rainbow Matt Kodama shot 3-under 69 and is tied for 21st, four shots out of first.

Nick Mason, a Leilehua High School and University of Hawai'i-Hilo graduate, is playing at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club in McKinney, Texas. He was tied for 11th after shooting 71 Tuesday. The second round was postponed because of "inclement weather."
