Man found guilty in Kaneohe murder

Advertiser Staff

Jerrico Lindsey faces life in prison after he was found guilty this morning of the brazen murder of Benjamin Grajeda in Kaneohe two years ago.

A Circuit Court jury deliberated two days before finding Lindsey, 28, guilty of murder, kidnapping, robbery, burglary and firearms offenses.
Lindsey and co-defendants Reginald Pettway and William Freeman Jr. abducted Grajeda, an alleged drug dealer from Los Angeles living in Kaneohe, by locking him in the trunk of their getaway car following a botched robbery attempt the evening of May 14, 2007.
When Grajeda escaped from the trunk and ran down the middle of Kaneohe Bay Drive, Lindsey shot him repeatedly with a semiautomatic firearm, according to eyewitness testimony.
Pettway and Freeman pleaded guilty in the case and testified against Lindsey.
“We’re very pleased that the jury took the time to look at all the evidence,” Deputy Prosecutor Darrell Wong said.
The verdict, Wong said, sends a message that “We’re not going to let this kind of thing happen here.”
Defense attorney William Harrison said he and his client were “disappointed” by the jury’s decision and are contemplating an appeal.
Circuit Judge Steven Alm will sentence Lindsey Dec. 21.
