NFL: Jets NT Jenkins out for season with torn ACL

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — New York Jets nose tackle Kris Jenkins has been placed on season-ending injured reserve with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
Coach Rex Ryan said the team would re-sign veteran defensive tackle Howard Green to make up for the loss of Jenkins.
Jenkins was injured while making a tackle in the second quarter of the Jets’ 16-13 overtime loss to Buffalo on Sunday. Jenkins, in his second season with New York, is considered a centerpiece of Ryan’s aggressive defense, especially against the run.
Jenkins tackled Fred Jackson on a 4-yard run with just over 5 minutes left before halftime and went down, grimacing while laying on his back. He slowly walked off the field to the sideline before heading to the locker room.
