A partnership between Hawaiian Airlines and Cebu Pacific Air will allow passengers flying between Honolulu and Manila to continue on to Laoag City in the Ilocos Norte province.

The twice-weekly connecting service begins Nov. 2, and will allow customers to earn HawaiianMiles awards on each flight. As part of its service launch, Hawaiian is offering an introductory fare of $35 each way for the connecting flight between Manila and Laoag.

Because Hawaiian and Cebu Pacific use different systems for booking flights, the new flight connections must be booked and purchased through a professional travel agent, according to a news release from Hawaiian.

FOODLAND DONATES $1.7M TO NONPROFITS

Foodland Super Market presented a roughly $1.7 million check on behalf of customers, the company and Western Union to nonprofit organizations in this year's Give Aloha campaign.

The local supermarket chain said that despite economically challenging times, more money was raised this year than in any year since the program began in 1999.

Customers donated more than $1.3 million at Foodland and Sack N Save stores throughout September. Foodland and the Western Union Foundation contributed an additional $325,000.

More than 600 Hawai'i nonprofit organizations will benefit, Foodland said. Since the program began, $14 million has been raised for Hawaii charities.

ISONO TO HEAD CENTRAL PACIFIC OPERATIONS

Denis K. Isono has been promoted as vice chair and chief operations officer of Central Pacific Financial Corp. and its subsidiary, Central Pacific Bank, according to a regulatory filing.

Isono, 58, had been executive vice president of operations and services for the two companies since September 2004.

SBA OFFERING FREE CONSULTATIONS NOV. 20

The Small Business Administration will hold a resource day Nov. 20 in Kapolei to help small-business owners find resources available to deal with the economic slump.

The SBA will offer free 30-minute consultations with small-business specialists from the federal agency and address issues such as access to capital and credit.
