Halawa inmate dies after fight

A 46-year-old man who was an inmate at the state�s Halawa Prison was fatally injured yesterday morning during a fight with another inmate.

Police were told that the man who died was arguing with a 22-year-old inmate about 8:30 a.m. when the younger man punched him several times.
The injured man was found lying in the prison recreation yard and was taken to the facility�s clinic.
City paramedics were called to the prison and rushed the man to The Queen�s Medical Center where he later died.
Police arrested inmate James Gouviea on suspicion of second-degree murder.
