STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Daryll Clark threw for three touchdowns and No. 14 Penn State's defense overpowered lower-division Eastern Illinois in a 52-3 rout today.
Jared Odrick led the defensive push with two sacks and linebacker Navorro Bowman returned a fumble 91 yards for a touchdown in the Nittany Lions' easy win.
The game was well in hand in the first half, when Penn State (5-1) scored 28 points off Eastern Illinois (4-2) in the final 7:27 of the second quarter. Clark threw his touchdown passes on three straight drives.
Penn State finished off the half when Ollie Ogbu forced a fumble after sacking Panthers quarterback Jake Christensen. Bowman picked up the ball at the Eastern Illinois 9 and rumbled untouched into the end zone for a 38-0 lead.
