HIFF guides available at local outlets; trailer released

Film guides for the Hawaii International Film Festival are now available at Best Buy, Whole Foods, Aloha Salads and L&L Barbecue, HIFF officials announced today.

The program guides provide listings of all festival films with synopses and schedule, plus a look at the seminars, gala events and classes.
The program guides are also available at the HIFF box office and at Regal Dole Cannery Stadium 18 Theatres.
HIFF runs Oct. 15-25.
HIFF is also showing its new trailer for the festival at Best Buy locations. The trailer featured Daniel Dae Kim of “Lost” and was directed by Todd Robertson, president and CEO of Hyperspective Studios, Inc.
This year’s HIFF theme is “What do you see?” The trailer shows Kim sitting at a desk, struggling over writing, when he spills a bottle of ink while using a fountain pen. The ink shapes into an inkblot in which various hidden images come to life. The inkblot is also used on HIFF posters.
More than 177 films are being shown at this year’s festival from 36 countries and in 27 languages.
The festival is at Regal Dole Cannery Stadium 18 Theaters.
General admission tickets are $10, $9 for students, seniors, children and military. Tickets may be purchased in person at HIFF’s box office at 650 Iwilei Road #101 across from Regal Dole Cannery Stadium 18 Theaters or by phone at (808) 548-5905.
