ANTI-CANVAS SHOW ALL ABOUT WEARABLE ART

Surfwear company Hurley's board shorts become wearable art at the Anti-Canvas art show and auction this Friday, when Hurley teams up with Contrast Magazine to showcase the work of 31 different artists, including "godfather of low-brow art" and twisted hot-rodder imagery artist Robert Williams, Ron English, Big Foot and Lisa Johnson. The surf company uses a technique called "sublimation" to make these one-of-a-kind pieces — a heat transfer method that preserves details of the design.

The show features art by local artists including Angry Woebots (pictured), Jon Mozo, Haj Gollestani, Jef Hartsel, Clark Little, Heather Brown and Honozooloo. Proceeds support Save Our Sports, the Junior Lifeguard Program and the Samoa Relief Disaster Fund. The show starts at 7 p.m. Friday — yes, it's First Friday — at SoHo Mixed Media Bar, 80 S. FEEL THE MANA

Hear what's fresh in Hawaiian music and help send the Mana Maoli Collective of kumu hula, dancers and musicians for the first time ever to the Pasifika Festival in Aotearoa (New Zealand) — the largest gathering of Pacific peoples in the world — by showing up for the Mana Maoli Music Fundraiser, 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Thursday at NextDoor, 43 N. Hotel St.

The fundraiser features an all-star band: Paula Fuga, Kaumaka'iwa Kanaka'ole, Lopaka Colon, Wayne Enos of Natural Vibes, Shane Veincent of Sudden Rush, Kapali Keahi of Lahaina Grown, Kiliona and Kalei Young of Moemoea, Ekona Ravey of Mixjah and 'Ai Pohaku, and Sole Sioloa. Candy Diaz performs at 9 p.m., and Kings of Spade go on stage at 10 p.m., with Mana Maoli to follow.

GO BANANAS

Sammy Bananas, a rising DJ, below, out of Brooklyn, N.Y., lives up to his name with club-banging exclusive electropop tracks, drawing remix love from production stars like Chromeo and 45 King; he's a hit among musical peers like platinum producer will.i.am. He's in the Fools Gold family of DJs with Jokers of The Scene and Flosstradamus (who played Honolulu last week). His 2007 EP "High Top Fades" is a catchy mix of '90s hits meets electro; his bootleg of N.E.R.D.'s "Everyone Nose," reinvented as "All The Girls," was a 2008 club hits. Guava Shop, the North Shore's sweet and tangy chic clothing boutique, will join with the Kokua Hawai'i Foundation's Simplify the Holidays campaign to host a holiday clothing swap this Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. All swap participants can shop with a discount of 10 percent off everything in the store, and 20 percent off all marked, "green"-themed items, including Envirosax, Baggu and Alternative Apparel Organic cottons.

How it works: Starting today and every day until the event, bring swappable clothes to the Guava Shop to receive swap tickets, based on the value of the items brought in. • There are many ways to be green this holiday. Do your part by making your own wrapping paper, using what you've already got lying around. Use vintage scarves or embroidered kerchiefs to wrap smaller gifts, the way Japanese do to carry their bento lunches.
