CFB: Texas kick returner Monroe charged with DWI
Associated Press
AUSTIN, Texas — Texas freshman kick returner D.J. Monroe has been charged with drunken driving after a overnight arrest.
Monroe was arrested on Interstate 35 and taken to the Hays County jail, said Lt. Ler oy Opiela of the Hays County Sheriff’s office. He was released Sunday morning after posting $3,000 bond.
Opiela said he did not have details of the arrest or who posted Monroe’s bond.
A Texas spokesman said the team was aware of the arrest. Texas coach Mack Brown did not immediately issue a statement.
Monroe has two kickoff returns for touchdowns this season for the No. 3 Longhorns (10-0).
