HONG KONG — France's Gregory Bourdy has survived a late challenge from Rory McIlroy to win the Hong Kong Open by two strokes and secure a berth at the European Tour's year-end championship in Dubai.
Bourdy had four birdies and a bogey in a 3-under 67 that gave him a 19-under 261 total and his third European Tour title. The win moved the Frenchman into the top 60 on the money list, qualifying him for Dubai.
McIlroy shot a 64 but faltered at the end. He was within one shot of Bourdy after an eagle on the 13th and birdies on Nos. 15-16, but missed a short putt on the 17th to fall two back.
The 20-year-old from Northern Ireland lost a playoff to Lin Wen-tang in Hong Kong last year.
Dutchman Robert-Jan Derksen (68) and Italy's Francesco Molinari (64) finished tied for third another stroke back.
