'Ohana Health Plan donates to rural medical program
A Big Island program designed to attract, train and retain doctors and other medical professionals on an ongoing basis will get financial help from a Waipahu-based company.
'Ohana Health Plan of Waipahu will make a $5,000 donation to the Hilo Medical Center's Rural Family Practice Residency Program.
Because a national physician shortage has hit rural and remote communities especially hard, 'Ohana Health Plan wants to support the residency program.
The company has been involved in numerous community outreach initiatives.
