Pepe'ekeo man assaulted at home on Big Island

Big Island police are investigating what was reported as an unprovoked assault Friday on a Pepe'ekeo man.

The victim told police an unknown man knocked on his front door about 4:30 p.m., assaulted him when he opened the door of his Kau Hale Olu apartment and then left the area.

The suspect is described as about 5-foot-6, 140 to 150 pounds with blond hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts and slippers. He was last seen on foot heading east on Kumula Street in Pepe'ekeo.

Police ask that anyone who may have witnessed the assault or who may have seen a person matching that description call Officer Kimo Keliipaakaua at 961-2213 or the Police Department's non-emergency line at 935-3311.
