Clogged pipe sends 2,000 gallons of sewage onto road
A clog in a pipe resulted in a spill of about 2,000 gallons of sewage in Honokai Hale Wednesday evening, the city reported.
Grease and rags backed up an 8-inch vitrified clay pipe and out a manhole fronting 92-731 Pa'akai St.
An estimated 2,000 gallons reached a dry canal where it dissipated, not reaching a body of water. The city Department of Environmental Services notified the state Department of Health. Warning signs were posted and water samples taken.
