Hawaii entertainers team up to grant a special wish

Advertiser staff

Hawaii entertainers Jasmine Trias and Henry Kapono made Elikia King's wish come true when they recorded a song written by the eight-year-old who is fighting acute myelocytic leukemia.

Like many girls her age, Elikia is a fan of the Cheetah Girls whose song "Fly-Away" was the inspiration for her song.

Make-A-Wish Hawaii Ambassador, Henry Kapono wrote special music to accompany Elikia's lyrics, and asked Jasmine Trias if she would be the recording vocalist.

Hawaii Pacific Entertainment coordinated the project for the superduo who produced a special CD for her.

Elikia lives in Pearl City with her parents, Emerance and John King and sisters, Nyjah, 6, and Ayana, 3. The family recently moved to Hawaii from Marine Corps Air Station Futenma on the island of Okinawa so Elikia could be treated by the doctors at Tripler Army Medical Center.

Make-A-Wish, Hawaii, is the 13th chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of America which now numbers 65 chapters in the U.S. and its territories. The local chapter grants wishes to children living in Hawaii fighting life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, joy and aloha and has granted over 700 wishes locally.
