ROCK HILL, S.C. — Rock Hill police have charged two Winthrop baseball players with marijuana possession.
A police report says 19-year-old Garrett Koster of Fort Mill, and 19-year-old Cory McGinnis of Allison Park, Pa., were stopped Wednesday morning because the music in the SUV was playing too loudly. An officer found more than 7.6 grams of the drug under the passenger seat.
Rock Hill police Lt. Brad Redfearn says the two were released after posting $570 bond each.
Koster is a freshman infielder who's started 15 of Winthrop's 22 games this season. McGinnis is a freshman right-handed pitcher who has appeared seven times for the Eagles. He's got a 4.05 earned-run average over 13 1-3 innings of work.
A university spokeswoman wrote to The (Rock Hill) Herald that the two have been suspended from the team.
