Man dies after he's pulled from waters in Haleiwa

A man died of an apparent drowning this afternoon in Hale'iwa.
The man, who appeared to be in his 30s, was pulled from the waters off Hale'iwa Ali'i Beach Park at about 1 p.m., said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department. Lifeguards performed CPR on the man until an ambulance arrived and transported him to an area hospital.
The man initially was in critical condition, but he later died, Cheplic said. The victim's name was not immediately available.
It was also not known whether the man was a visitor or resident.
