PHILADELPHIA — Thaddeus Young wished he could have played a few more games at the Spectrum. He made the most of his one and only chance on the musty court.

With Dr. J and former franchise greats in attendance, the 76ers brought down the house one last time before Philadelphia's first arena goes away for good.

Young scored a career-high 31 points and Andre Iguodala had 25 to spark Philadelphia to a 104-101 victory over Chicago last night in the final NBA game at the 42-year-old Spectrum.

"This was the way they write it in books," Sixers coach Tony DiLeo said.

Erving implored the Sixers to beat the Bulls in a pregame ceremony, where he was feted with members of the 1966-67 and 1982-83 NBA champion Sixers. Former team greats Bobby Jones and Moses Malone were on hand for the final Sixers game at the dated arena that is targeted for demolition by the end of this year.

"When you have guys like that in the building, you can't do nothing but go out there and give them a great showing," Young said.

The Sixers, who normally play across the street at the Wachovia Center, gave a capacity crowd one more thriller to remember in their first game here since April 19, 1996.

The Sixers played their first game at the Spectrum on Oct. 18, 1967, and beat the Lakers 103-87.

This one was a lot tighter down the stretch and the Sixers were saved by a pair of clutch blocks in the final minutes.

LeBron James scored 51 points, including six in overtime, and visiting Cleveland linched the Central Division title with a victory over Sacramento. Anderson Varejao had 18 points and 12 rebounds for Cleveland, which has won four straight and eight of nine to secure just the second division title in franchise history.

Leon Powe, starting because of injuries to Kevin Garnett and Glen Davis, had a career-high 30 points with 11 rebounds, and Ray Allen scored 22 points to help host Boston beat Memphis and snap a two-game losing streak.

PISTONS 99, RAPTORS 95

Richard Hamilton had 24 points and 16 assists, Antonio McDyess added 16 points and 13 rebounds, and visiting Detroit opened overtime with a 9-0 run to defeat Toronto, which has lost seven straight.

ROCKETS 91, BOBCATS 86

Ron Artest hit a 17-foot jumper for an 87-86 lead with 22 seconds left, then blocked a shot and went coast-to-coast for a layup and a 91-86 lead with two seconds left as visiting Houston beat Charlotte. Yao Ming led the Rockets with 23 points.

HAWKS 101, PACERS 87

Joe Johnson scored 30 points for the third straight game, Al Horford added 17 points and 15 rebounds, and host Atlanta ended the third quarter with a 9-0 run for a 75-64 lead in never lost in beating Indiana for its fourth straight victory.

MAGIC 112, WIZARDS 103

Dwight Howard had 18 points, 13 rebounds and career-high seven assists, and Mickael Pietrus contributed 21 points and 11 rebounds to help visiting Orlando turn back Washington for its sixth victory in seven games.

Nate Robinson scored 25 points, Wilson Chandler added 24 points to spark New York to its third straight road victory, beating Minnesota which fell to 2-13 since Al Jefferson suffered a season-ending torn ligament in his right knee.

Chris Paul scored 30 points, David West added 21 points, nine assists and six rebounds, and Rasual Butler hit a pair of 3-pointers down the stretch, helping visiting New Orleans beat Milwaukee for its ninth victory in its last 10 games.

Stephen Jackson scored 31 points, Monta Ellis had season highs of 29 points and 11 rebounds, as host Golden State beat Dallas, despite Jason Kidd's second triple-double of the season with 21 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds.

Brandon Roy scored 31 points, including 24 in the second half, and Steve Blake hit a 3-pointer for a 96-94 lead with 2:41 left and host Portland never trailed again in rallying from an 11-point deficit to beat New Jersey.

Pistons' owner dies: Detroit Pistons owner Bill Davidson, a noted philanthropist who was inducted into the basketball Hall of Fame last year, has died. He was 86. Davidson died yesterday at his Bloomfield Hills home, team spokesman Matt Dobek said.
