Trio of bintlets born at Pana'ewa Zoo last month

The Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo & Gardens welcomed the births of three bintlets, or binturong babies, on Feb. 10.

The bintlets are the offspring of zoo residents Lucille and Ricky Ricardo.

Binturong, also known as bearcats, are native to Southeast Asia, Malaysia and Indonesia. They are related to mongoose, but are nocturnal and arboreal (meaning they are tree dwellers who like the night life).

The zoo says the bintlets are strong and healthy and beginning to move about in their nest box. They are expected to leave their confines and begin to explore their habitat enclosure in a few weeks.
