Gov. Linda Lingle underwent a biopsy to check for breast cancer this morning under doctor's recommendations after the results of a mammogram.
The governor underwent what her spokesman described as a minor medical procedure at The Queen's Medical Center this morning between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. She was resting at home and was not expected to return to the governor's office until Monday.
Lingle had a similar procedure done in 2002, when the results showed no signs of breast cancer.
Lenny Klompus, the governor's spokesman, said Lingle wanted to use the experience to urge women to have regular health checkups and mammograms.
