Chaminade University said today that its Presidential Search Committee has narrowed its list of candidates for the new school president to three finalists.
They are, in alphabetical order:
— David B. House, Ph.D., served as president of Saint Joseph's College of Maine from 1995 until 2007. Prior to that, he was vice president for academic affairs at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Ky.
— Bro. Bernard Ploeger, S.M., Ph.D., currently serves at Chaminade as its acting president, as well as its executive vice president and provost. He has served the university twice as acting president since coming to Chaminade in 2001.
— Gerard Voland, Ph.D., currently serves as the dean of the College of Engineering, Technology and Computer Science at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne. He also has served as associate vice president for undergraduate education and dean of the Undergraduate College at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.
Chaminade is searching for a successor to Sue Wesselkamper, who died in January.
All three candidates will be on campus next week, so that members of the Chaminade community will be able to meet with each of them individually.
Chaminade students, staff, faculty and alumni are invited to meetings scheduled for March 9-11. Information on the presidential search, criteria and the resumes of the three finalists may be found at www.chaminade.edu
The university's Board of Regents hopes to finalize its choice before May.
