Ace underwater photography skills
| |||
Stan Waterman's talk is a family-oriented public grand finale for a week-long Marine Biology Camp at Waikiki Aquarium, which turns the aquarium's exhibits and nearby waters into a living laboratory for teens. Activities include the use of underwater cameras, micro-video and other equipment to explore the marine world. The camp is full for this session. However, Waikiki Aquarium instructor Mary Roney offers these general tips for shooting photographs underwater:
1. Get close to your subject.
2. Use two hands to steady your camera.
3. Shoot up toward the light or across, but not down to the ocean floor.
4. Avoid kicking up sediment to maximize water clarity.
5. Choose a time to shoot with maximum natural light.
