America to be in Maui concert to help celebrate 50th anniversary of Hawaii statehood
The Maui Arts & Cultural Center has announced that America will hold a concert in August on the events lawn. The concert is the county’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of statehood commission and a Tom Moffat Production.
A celebration of the 50th anniversary of statehood will be held before the 7:30 p.m. Aug. 8 concert from 4-6 p.m. on the A&B Amphitheater lawn. This event is free and open to the public. Fifty-cent hot dogs, shave ice, beverages, games, and a bouncy castle for the kids will also be available. Bring your low-back chairs and blankets.
Dewey Bunnell and Gerry Buckley lead America, whose musical imagery catapulted the group to the top of the charts in the ’70s. Their memorable hits “Horse With No Name,” “Ventura Highway,” “I Need You,” “Lonely People,” “Muskrat Love,” “Tin Man” and “Sister Golden Hair” are audience favorites.
From their formative years, America has been a band capable of transcending borders with its uplifting music and positive message. Embracing a melting pot of divergent cultures, America's multigenerational audiences continue to grow bearing testament to the group's enduring appeal.
As a kickoff promo for the 50th anniversary of statehood the first 150 pairs of concert tickets sold will be priced at two for $50. After the promo tickets are: $40 general audience, and $65 for VIP seating. Member discounts are available.
