Competitive spirits ran high today for the Dragon Boat Festival at Ala Moana Beach Park.
“It was such fun,” said Irobela Wreagh of Kailua, with the Opala Express team.

“I was the drummer, so I got to sit up front and see the whole team paddling and watch their energy and work with them. It was really great.”
Teams consist of a crew of 16 paddlers, a drummer, flag catcher and steersman.
The festival continues tomorrow.
But the fun isn’t over for today. A screening of the movie “Kung Fu Panda” will begin at 7:15 p.m. in the park.
