Last Hawaiçi students, chaperone to be released from quarantine in South Korea
Six Hawaiçi students and a chaperone, all diagnosed with H1N1 virus, are scheduled to be released from quarantine tomorrow at two South Korean hospitals.
Another chaperone who was hospitalized for pneumonia was also hospitalized and is expected to be released tomorrow.
The students and chaperones are part of a high school study group visiting South Korea as part of a program organized by the Pacific and Asian Affairs Council.
In all, 11 of the 25 people on the trip were found to be infected with the virus. Four other infected students were released earlier in the week.
The rest of the group was forced to remain in their Seoul hotel rooms until Thursday so health officials could make certain they weren't also carriers of the potentially fatal flu.
PAAC board member and spokesperson Ruth Limtiaco said her organization is looking into extending the trip so the students can experience as much of the previously planned itinerary as possible.
