If you think only of Transformers when you hear the word robots, prepare to have your view metamorphosed when you see what hatches today at Pearlridge Center.

Through Aug. 2, the mall’s center courts host the “Giant Insect Safari,” a free exhibit of robotic insects (up to 600 times larger than life) — including atlas fighting beetles, a lime swallowtail caterpillar, a Chinese praying mantis and interactive honeybee, dragonfly and mosquito heads.
A safari train ride is offered for a nominal fee. Find more information at www.pearlridgeonline.com.
If giant animatronic insects thrill you, find more at Bishop Museum’s Backyard Monsters exhibit through Sept. 7. Visit www.bishopmuseum.org for details.
