Some westbound viaduct lanes will be closed Sunday

Advertiser Staff

Some westbound lanes of the H-1 Freeway's airport viaduct will be closed Sunday for concrete pavement repair work, the state Department of Transportation announced.

Construction will take place from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Three lanes will be closed at a time. All on-ramps and off-ramps will remain open.

Work will be conducted from the airport on-ramp to the Aloha Stadium/Arizona memorial off-ramp.

Single-lane closures will also take place on Nimitz Highway below the viaduct as a safety precaution.

The roadwork is part of $9.1 million project to repair pavement along a nearly-three-mile stretch of the H-1 airport viaduct. Crews will use a fast-forming concrete to fill potholes. To minimize vibration as the concrete cures, the speed limit near the repair area will be 15 mph.
