UH's Wong honored

Hawai'i center fielder Kolten Wong, a 2008 Kamehameha-Hawai'i alum, was named to the Ping! Freshman All-America first team, it was announced yesterday.
Wong batted .341 with 21 doubles, 11 home runs, 52 RBI and 11 steals. He also was the Western Athletic Conference's Freshman of the Year.
He leaves today for USA National Team trials that run Monday through June 24 in Cary, N.C. He is one of 36 players invited to try out for the 22-player roster.
"It's an honor just to be invited," Wong said.
