Man gets 20 months for role in local gambling operation
A man convicted of helping run a gambling operation in Waialua has been sentenced to 20 months in prison.
District Judge Susan Oki Mollway sentenced William Gilman, 50, on June 4. Gilman and four others — including his 78-year-old father and 55-year-old brother — were found guilty in December of various charges stemming from their involvement in an operation that included cockfighting and card games.
William Gilman was the last defendant to be sentenced.
The case drew notoriety because an FBI investigation showed that three Honolulu police officers provided the defendants with advance notice of raids.
