High-surf advisory for southern shores in effect until midnight tomorrow
Advertiser Staff
The National Weather Service says a high-surf advisory remains in effect until midnight tomorrow for south-facing shores on all islands.
Surf along south shores will rise to 6 to 10 feet today and slowly diminish tomorrow, dropping below 8 feet tomorrow night.
A high-surf advisory means that large waves could produce dangerous rip currents and some localized beach erosion.
Bryan Cheplic, of the city's Emergency Services Division, said that while the surf so far has not been as large as anticipated, lifeguards are continuing to urge beachgoers to practice caution.
