NCAA baseball: Texas beats TCU 10-4 in Super Regional opener

AUSTIN, Texas — Michael Torres hit two home runs and went 4-for-5 with four RBIs to propel No. 1 Texas past TCU 10-4 in the opening game of the best-of-three Super Regional series.
Torres hit a solo home run in the second inning Saturday, putting the Longhorns (45-13-1) up 3-1. He later blasted a 3-run home run in the seventh to break the game open, giving Texas a 10-4 lead.
Chance Ruffin (10-2) had his third complete game of the season and struck out seven. Kyle Winkler (7-1) gave up five hits and four earned runs for the Horned Frogs (39-17).
Taylor Featherston hit a homer in the first inning to give TCU a quick 1-0 lead. The Horned Frogs tied the game in the sixth inning when Matt Vern belted a two-run shot.
Texas broke an NCAA record with seven sacrifice hits.
